Azadeh Nikouei, Assistant General Manager (AGM) and Ph.D. candidate in art studies stated: The dialogue of Asian cooperation maintains the diversity of arts and crafts while also serving as the shared vernacular of ancient Asian civilizations
Holding the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum (ACD) in Yazd, designated as the capital of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue in 2024, presents an invaluable opportunity to bolster cultural exchanges and deepen mutual understanding across the region. Hosting the event in the historic adobe city of Yazd, renowned for its wind catchers, rich handicraft traditions, and also traditional textile heritage, will undoubtedly enrich the event. Art and handicrafts, embodying the tangible identity of each nation, despite their distinct characteristics, have always facilitated encounters, dialogues, intersections, and even the blending of cultures through the exchange of experiences along economic and cultural corridors like the Silk Road. The diversity of Asian handicrafts not only preserves the rich tapestry of the continent’s ancient cultures but also serves as a catalyst for fostering a shared cultural heritage and strengthening a more unified, empathetic Asian society—a society that becomes more vibrant and prosperous through the celebration of its differences. In essence, handicrafts can weave a multi-layered narrative in the tapestry of cultural discourses, like an additional thread.
